G.H.Hurt & Son Wins The Queen's Awards for Enterprise: International Trade 2021
G.H.Hurt & Son is a 2021 winner of The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, in International Trade. It’s such a huge honour for our business to be awarded this recognition. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses, personally approved by Her Majesty The Queen. G.H.Hurt & Son is one of only 205 organisations nationally to be recognised with this prestigious award this year. Not only have we been recognised for our excellence in international trade, but also for our outstanding growth in overseas sales during the last three years, successfully creating a truly global brand. Specifically, we have seen significant growth in the USA, Europe, Japan and Australia.
Over a three year period, we have seen visitors to our web-shop from 183 nations and sent orders to over 100 different countries. On one occasion, we saw 3,000+ visits from Iceland in a single day. As Iceland has a population of 300,000, that's 1% of the whole nation. We have had orders from Ealing to Ecuador, Glasgow to Georgia, Mansfield to Macau, Richmond to Rome, Belfast to Bermuda, Clacton-on-Sea to California, Aberystwyth to Argentina.
We've also had 6 orders from Reunion Island, in the Indian Ocean.
During the same period, we have also been busy building great business relationships amongst new retail stockists and distribution partners around the world.
Receiving this award is an incredible milestone in G.H.Hurt & Son’s 109 year history. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise has been given annually to leading UK businesses since 1965. This award will be presented later in the year and allows the use the esteemed Queen’s Awards emblem for the next five years.
Our Director Gillian Taylor said: “It’s a real privilege to receive this recognition. The Queen’s Awards are seen as one of the most prestigious UK business awards, so we are extremely proud. It is a brilliant reward for the staff, as without their passion and hard work, the business would not have achieved this”.
“I would like to say a thank you to all our amazing customers around the world. We have been exporting Nottingham, one piece of knitted lace at a time, to over 100 countries and we could not be more proud”.
We look forward to further international trade and expanding our beautiful product range.
